As much as we love doing prosthetics all day we are often called to create unique orthotic devices as well. This post polio patient came to us in the hopes of help. After years of polio taking it's toll on his body his legs were falling apart. His left leg suffers from drop foot and he has ankle pain so a simple Allard BlueRocker was fit to assist him. His right side was a little more complex. Due to the patient's size and weight we had to figure out a way to hold him up, give him stability and not allow the brace to crumble underneath him. Using a new carbonfiber plastic hybrid material, american steel, and some ingenuity we crafted a lightweight yet extremely rigid KAFO.
O'Connor Orthopedics & Prosthetics is not only committed to helping our patients in the office but also assisting orthotic and prosthetic users around the world stay up to date on the latest and greatest.
